Dissolve Bullets

This is my Re-write of 45’s speech last night:
Every day, 45 and many others perpetuate the notion that people are illegal. Not that they do illegal things, that they are illegal as customs and border “protection” agents encounter thousands of HUMAN BEINGS trying to enter our country and treat them as less than. Being the richest country in the world and with some folks having obscene amounts of wealth we have space and resources to hold these human beings but we choose not to, and some would like to promptly return these economic social and political refugees “back home” because they do not see that there is only one human family and one earth which is everyone’s home. America proudly boasts about being the land of the free and home of the brave but we are fearful and want only those who can contribute to maintaining the status quo. All Americans are hurt by a culture of fear, violence, white supremacy, and hate. We need to actually be free and be brave. Love is only for the brave.
It strains public resources and drives down jobs and wages for some human beings to be so fearful and so selfish, especially politicians whose job is meant to be to SERVE THE PEOPLE. Frankly some of the people who are in politics do not like people and should be working in a different arena. It is all love but if you do not like people you should not be in politics. Among those hardest hit by our current status quo which benefits white men above all others are African-Americans and Hispanic-Americans. Our most prestigious universities are a pipeline for vast quantities of white supremacy, patriarchy, unfettered capitalism, depression, suicide, and violence. Every week, 300 of our citizens are killed by heroin alone. A hundred percent of which stems from a culture of fear and hate instead of curiosity and love. More human beings who are not from America will die this year than were killed in the entire Vietnam War.
In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of HUMAN BEINGS with criminal records and over the years, millions have been legally brutally killed by those who seek power. Millions more lives will be lost if we don’t act right now. Make change in whatever way you can. Talk about it. Teach. Run for office. Make art. Break down the rhetoric. Tell the children the truth.
This is a humanitarian crisis. A crisis of the heart, and a crisis of the soul. A couple months ago, thousands of migrant children who first made the dangerous journey towards what they and their parents hoped would be a better life were legally detained and separated from their parents by the United States. These children were used as pawns by vicious politicians and ruthless gangs. One in three women are sexually assaulted on the dangerous trek up through Mexico and we have a rapist who was recently appointed to the supreme court. Women and children have been victimized and traumatized by patriarchy both legally and illegally and both inside and outside the United States. Women and children are the biggest victims, by far, of our broken system.
This is the tragic reality of fear, hate, and white supremacy in our own hearts, in the oval office, in our nation and in the world generally. This is the cycle of human suffering that we have to be determined to end. God/spirit/source/Allah/Buddha/faith is present in each one of us and calls on us to be creative and manifest something new. It will take art and science, general humanitarianism broad statements and detailed proposals to secure our human family. This is a tremendous problem. Choose love now.
