Supporting Local Political Races in this Time of COVID19: Virtual Phone Banking for Sandy Nurse

I’m honored to have spent part of my night tonight virtually phone banking for Sandy Nurse who is running for New York City Council in district 37.

Sandy is a carpenter and community organizer running for New York City Council in District 37. Sandy is an Afro-Latina, born in Panama to an immigrant father and raised by a single mother. She comes from a multicultural family with siblings who were born and raised in Puerto Rico. She is a proud Auntie to 10 nieces and nephews.

Sandy is the founder of BK ROT, a co-founder of the Mayday Space, a direct action organizer, and a carpenter. She has spent nearly a decade working to create the alternative institutions we need for positive social change while confronting power. As your City Councilmember, she will fight to keep people in their homes, create protections for our immigrant neighbors, and help build a healthy, sustainable future.”

I know folks eyes are on the president’s race but these local elections are important too, let’s get more Black women on NY City Council! It is especially important for us to have strong leadership in these tough times of COVID19 given it’s impact on the communities we serve, Sandy all the way!
